All of our sites are based on a community management system that we have built called SIG Networks System, or SIGNS. Most of the features of our photoSIG and artSIG sites, for example the rating system, the threaded forums system, and the internal mail system, are really features of SIGNS.
Another system called Vibes, which is a Struts application built on top of SIGNS, actually implements the photoSIG and artSIG sites. Vibes is fully internationalizable and very configurable. The differences between photoSIG and artSIG are all captured in configuration files.
